Moreover, Arusha city is less than an hour away from the Kilimanjaro international airport. Hence you can easily book a taxi to Arusha and begin your memorable Holidays.
Unfortunately, there are very few direct international flights to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), and none from the United Kingdom or the United States. Airlines that fly into Kilimanjaro Airport include:
- KLM
- Turkish Airlines
- Ethiopian Airlines
- Emirates
- Qatar
Please note these direct flights or airlines are subjected to change, please check the airline’s websites and the Kilimanjaro Airport before booking your flight.
Convenient Flight options to Kilimanjaro Airport
If you’re traveling from the Northern Hemisphere to Kilimanjaro Climb, then the most affordable and convenient option is to fly from Amsterdam on a direct KLM flight to Kilimanjaro.
This flight departs Amsterdam around 10:00 am every day and arrives at Kilimanjaro International Airport around 20:30pm on that very day.
As per USA, UK, and other European Kilimanjaro Climbers, the easiest thing to take a flight to Amsterdam from your nearby airport (almost all major airports in the USA, UK, and Europe have flights to Amsterdam). From Amsterdam, you can catch the KLM to JRO connecting flight.

Cheap flight alternatives
Turkish Airlines
If you’re on a tight budget it’s a good option to score a cheap flight. Recently, Turkish Airlines have also started direct flights to Kilimanjaro. They fly via Istanbul, which is great if you’re living in Europe or the Middle East. However, the timings are a bit anti-social. The flight arrival is at Kilimanjaro at 02:00 am and departure at 03:00 am! But the prices are cheaper than other airlines though. However, with this redeye flight, you need to take into account the cost of an extra hotel night. Otherwise, you’ll be Climbing Kilimanjaro jet-lagged and sleep-deprived (not recommended!!).
Qatar
Qatar has introduced direct flights to Kilimanjaro International Airport via Doha. This works pretty well for Brits living near London or Manchester. This is convenient for trekkers coming from the Middle East, India, and Eastern Europe too.
Kenyan Airways And Ethiopian Airways
Both Kenyan Airways and Ethiopian Airways operate routes from major United Kingdom, United States, Europe, and some Southern Hemisphere airports. They fly via Nairobi (in Kenya) and Addis Ababa (in Ethiopia) respectively. From there you can easily book a connecting flight to Kilimanjaro Airport through Kenyan Airways, Precision Air, and Ethiopian Airways.
From Southern Africa
Coming from Southern Africa there are many airlines to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam or Addis Ababa including South African Airways, Kenyan Airways, and Emirates.
British Airways
British Airways mainly operate from London, UK to Nairobi. But these flights are a little on the expensive side.
