Trekking Highlights

The Machame route is one of the most beautiful and most popular trekking tours on Kilimanjaro. It is suitable for more exploratory hikers who wish for an added physically demanding climb than other routes. It presents stunning views of Mount Meru, Shira Ridge and Kibo summit as you make your move through lush rainforest, moorland and alpine desert. The varying altitudes on this 7 day tour as well as a little help from lady luck offers a good environment for acclimatization, enhancing your chances of reaching the summit

Day 1 Airport pick-up - Drop off at Hotel

You will be picked up by the staff of Jerry Tanzania Tours from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and driven to your hotel in Moshi. In the evening your guides will meet you at the hotel to brief you on your upcoming trek and do an equipment check to make sure you have all the necessary mountain gear. Gear which is missing can be rented on this day.

While your guide is busy with the Registration forms, you can watch the mountain team prepare for the climb and once this is all done, your Kilimanjaro adventure will begin. In no time you will be deep within the magnificent mountain rainforest with ancient trees, primeval ferns, liana, lichen and moss that carpets the ground and drapes from the trees. You will hear and with a little luck, even spot the beautiful black and white colobus monkeys in the treetops. After 5 to 6 hours, you will reach today’s destination – the Machame Camp which is situated just above the tree line at 2,835 metres.
