Tour Highlights

On this 6-day lodge safari you will get to explore four different wildlife areas in northern Tanzania. Apart from the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will also visit the Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Park. You will see swamps and savannah, huge herds of elephants and a crater full of game.

Day 1: Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi

A staff member of Jerry Tanzania Tours will pick you up from the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). From here you will be driven to Hotel in Moshi and briefed on your upcoming safari. Enjoy a restful night before beginning your safari tomorrow.
Accommodation: Panama Garden Resort
Journey time and Distance: 1 hour, 40 km from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi.

Day 2: Moshi – Tarangire National Park – Karatu

In the morning at around 6:00 a.m. your safari guide will arrive at the hotel and inform the receptionist that he is waiting for you. After meeting up with your driver, you will start your approximate four-hour journey to Tarangire National Park. The park is famous for its diverse landscape with nine different vegetation zones. Tarangire is particularly known for the abundance of Ancient Baobab trees (the largest trees in the continent) which fill the landscape and dwarf the animals next to them. The river of the park is full of wildlife ranging from a large variety of birds to lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes and, of course, elephants. In fact, this park has the largest concentration of elephants in the whole country and provides unique chances to observe the interaction between elephant families. The lunch area is fascinating, boasting an observatory with amazing views to the river and wildlife (with good chances of seeing a hunt while having your picnic). After an extensive game drive, enjoyed from the open roof of the vehicle, you will leave the park and travel to a nearby lodge, where you will overnight.

Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park, by way of Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After an early breakfast, you will drive towards the most famous National park in the World, the Serengeti. You will drive up the crater highlands, making a quick stop at the rim for an out of this world view of Ngorongoro Crater. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in local language, "endless plains". The park has 5,700 sq. mile (14,763 sq. km) and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and all kinds of antelopes including the abundant impalas and Thomson's gazelles. As for Big Cats and large predators, it is the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous river crossings having been filmed in this park. Smaller animals like foxes, mongoose, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys,  baboons, rock hyrax and African hares, together with more than 500 species of birds, also inhabit this park. The night will be spent on a tented camp in the Seronera Area.

you the best timings for you, including the game drives and the wake up time. For example, on this day,
you could do a morning game drive, return to the camp for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive, or you could do a full day game drive with picnic lunch. You will spend the night at a tented camp in the Seronera area.

Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast you will join another game drive in the Serengeti National Park and you might spot animals you haven’t seen during the last two days. The Serengeti is also home to the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – and today you might be able to see all the members of this group. After lunch at a picnic site, you will drive in direction of the Ngorongoro Crater and as soon as you have reached the edge of the crater, the caldera opens up before you. This approximate 20 km wide crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to over 25,000 animals. You will spend the night at the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Accommodation: Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Ngorongoro Farm House

Early in the morning you will head down the forested slopes into the crater on a steep and narrow path. The crater floor is covered in open grassland with the occasional acacia tree and two small wooded areas. Teaming with wildlife, you will be able to see many animals in a short period of time and might even be able to tick the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard – off your list. Other animals present in the crater area include wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, warthogs, hippos and more than 500 species of birds. You will spend the entire morning exploring the park and after a picnic lunch in the crater, you will head and check-in at the Ngorongoro Farm House located approximately 5 km away from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you will have the dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Farm House to Lake Manyara National Park, Return to Moshi

After the breakfast plates have been cleared, you will leave the Ngorongoro Farm House and travel to Lake Manyara National Park, a small but diverse park 128 km west of Arusha. Although small in dimension (205 sq. miles), the park has breathtaking scenery and well famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs and mahogany trees, as well as to a growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. Permanent residents of this park also include lions, giraffes, elephants, impalas and a huge amount of buffaloes. The lake is also home to a large number of hippos. Some unique facts about this park include flamingos in the lake shore as well as the Ground Hornbill and the Crested Eagle. The landscapes of Lake Manyara are something that cannot be described with words, and the game drives along the lake provide stunning photo opportunities of giraffes and buffaloes in the foreground and the lake (and its flamingos) in the background. After an intensive game drive and a picnic lunch, you will leave the park to arrive in Moshi by the early evening.
