The Marangu Route

Marangu Route

Mount Kilimanjaro Climbing on the Marangu Route is the shortest and easiest way. This route is therefore very busy during the peak season. You will find small hut accommodations on the route and it does not involve camping. The route is nicknamed, “Coca-Cola Route”, as the huts sell bottled Coke as well as a few other bits and pieces.

The Machame Route

Machame Route

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on the “Whiskey Route” which is a tougher climb than Marangu is exciting and thrilling at the same time. Machame Route is not for the unprepared trekkers and it is one of the busiest Kilimanjaro routes on the mountain.

The Lemosho Route

Lemosho Route

Lemosho route is undoubtedly the Best Route To Climb Kilimanjaro. This route was created as an alternative to the Shira Route. The start of Lemosho Route is at Londorossi Gate which sits at 2,300 meters with a long walk through the rainforest giving more time to the climbers to gradually adjust to the altitude.

The Rongai Route

Rongai Route

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro through the Rongai Route that approaches from the north is the best choice. You head through to the start point on the Kenyan side of the mountain and are less busy and have higher chances of seeing wildlife.

The Northern Circuit Route

Northern Circuit Route

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro For Beginners is the best on the Northern Circuit Route. The route begins at the Londorossi Gate in the west and follows the Lemosho Route and is the same up to the Lava Tower.

What to Expect During Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro
Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s when you’ve had everything to do, and you’ve done it.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro can be tough as there are no showers and the water in the streams is refreshingly cold. Here are some things you can expect on Kilimanjaro:

  • You will be provided with some warm water each morning and evening to wash your face and hands.
  • You can get used to the very basic ‘long drop’ toilets that are housed in wooden structures at each campsite.
  • There is no technical climbing required in the ascent.
  • Except at one point on the steep Barranco wall, the climb is rather gradual and simple.
  • Don’t expect privacy on the mountain when it comes to what you are eating, what you are throwing away, and the details of your morning constitutional.
  • Expect to lose your appetite as a symptom of altitude sickness.
  • Despite complete exhaustion, you will be unable to sleep at night. This is another result of exhaustion.
  • At the end of the climb, there is a beautiful tipping ceremony where the group tips the Kilimanjaro crew for their services. This is not included in your Kilimanjaro Climb Cost.
